What is a Haskap?
Haskaps are sweet and tangy berries, comparable to blueberry and raspberry, with a deliciously complex finish that must be experienced.
The Haskap berry (Lonicera caerulea), also known as the honeyberry or honeysuckle berry, is deep blue in colour, an oval or cylindrical-shaped berry that has been cultivated in Japan and Russia for centuries, where it is prized for its rich taste and its exceptional nutritional benefits. And it grows beautifully in our Southern Ontario climate, harvesting from June to early August.

- Complex flavour is excellent for juices and wine
- Fabulous for eating fresh — kids love them!
- Great for cooking and baking, pastries, jams and sauces
- Haskaps keep well — up to one week — in the refrigerator, and freeze well
- Extremely nutrient-dense — rich in polyphenols, anthocyanins, potassium, and calcium
- Richer in antioxidants than blueberries
- More vitamin C than oranges
- Long-revered for health benefits and used for traditional medicines in Asia

Millbrook Orchards is certified 100% Organic. We are one of the few orchards in Ontario specializing in organic Haskaps/Honeyberries and Strawberries.

OTHER FRUIT
As well as Haskaps, we also specialize in strawberries, and this September we’re expecting a harvest of our delicious asian pears. We also grow chums (cherry plums), cherries, apples, grapes, and various grains.
And of course — they’re all organic.

ORGANICS RESEARCH
Millbrook Orchards is dedicated to sustainable agriculture.
To that end, we have spent the past several years involved in organic farming research. We practice soil conservation and soil building, experiment with different cover crops, nutrient recycling, compost tea and other supplements. In 2017, we introduced mason bees as new early pollinators, and carpenter bees for later in the season.
We also help conduct crop trials with other organic farmers — drop us a line at info@millbrookorchards.ca if you’re interested in partnering with us.
